Create a beautifully proportioned home for your bonsai with this 21cm round glazed drum pot and coordinating ceramic drip tray. At approximately 8 inches across, it offers a useful medium-sized option for a wide variety of indoor and outdoor bonsai trees.
Choose from three attractive glazes – Royal Blue, Soft Cream or Forest Green. Each colour brings a different character to your display, while the traditional circular form provides a balanced foundation that allows the bonsai to take centre stage.
With its shallow profile and 18.5cm internal diameter, this pot is ideal for repotting a suitable established bonsai or developing a new composition. A matching drip tray completes the display and makes the pot particularly convenient for bonsai kept inside the home.
Traditional Drum Pot Styling
Drum pots have a distinctive place within traditional bonsai design. Their name comes from their broad, rounded shape, which resembles the proportions of a drum. Unlike a simple circular pot, they often incorporate additional detailing around the rim to give the container greater character and definition.
This 21cm pot features a series of small raised stud-like decorations around its upper rim. The detailing adds visual interest and emphasises the traditional drum design without competing with the tree planted above it.
Bonsai enthusiasts often describe drum pots as androgynous in style. In this context, androgynous means that the design brings together features traditionally associated with both masculine and feminine bonsai pots.
The defined rim and stud detailing create a stronger, more substantial appearance. In contrast, the smooth circular shape and flowing curves soften the overall design. This balance makes drum pots remarkably adaptable and suitable for many different bonsai forms.
Pair one with a powerful, mature-looking tree, a bonsai with an informal twisting trunk or a more delicate specimen with graceful branching. The neutral character of the drum shape allows it to complement the individual qualities of the tree rather than dictate the style of the finished composition.

Three Glaze Colours
Choose the finish that best complements your bonsai:
Royal Blue

Forest Green
Royal Blue creates a striking contrast against fresh green foliage. Soft Cream offers a more subtle and understated appearance, while Forest Green provides a rich, natural finish that works beautifully alongside textured bark and seasonal foliage.
Complete with Matching Drip Tray
A coordinating ceramic drip tray is supplied with each pot. It creates a neat, finished presentation and is especially useful for indoor bonsai, helping to protect furniture and other surfaces following watering.

Choosing the Right Time to Repot
Repotting provides fresh growing medium and gives you an opportunity to check the condition of your bonsai’s roots. Over time, roots can fill the available space and the soil can become compacted, so periodic repotting forms an important part of long-term bonsai care.
Indoor bonsai: Repot between May and September.
Outdoor deciduous bonsai: Early March is generally ideal, before the buds begin to open.
Evergreen bonsai, including Pines and Junipers: Repot during early spring, usually around March.
Combining a versatile 21cm size with traditional drum detailing, this circular glazed bonsai pot makes an attractive choice for many different tree styles. With three glaze colours, a matching drip tray and complimentary repotting accessories, it provides a practical and elegant way to refresh your bonsai display.
