A fine selection of Outdoor Bonsai for sale from the experts

We expertly grow our Outdoor Bonsai trees here at Bonsai Direct to beautifully imitate nature. Our outdoor selection includes bonsai trees such as the native English Oak (Quercus robur), Beech (Fagus sylvatica) & Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus). As well as Japanese classics such as Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum) and Japanese White Pine (Pinus parviflora). The Japanese Maple Bonsai (Acer palmatum desjojo) is always a favourite with bright red leaves which fade to orange during the season.

Beautifully styled with free delivery to most of the UK. Please note that many outdoor bonsai may be out of leaf during winter months. Their structure is still superb and to be admired.

We supply all outdoor bonsai with our bonsai care handbook which covers all aspects of growing bonsai. They are hardy but please position in a sheltered location during mid-winter.

These bonsai are all suitable for complete beginners, particularly since the trees are in a very natural garden environment. We hope you enjoy the beautiful shapes, flowers and attractive leaf leaves. We love the natural movement of the outdoor bonsai; the way they sway in the breeze.
The styling is intended to be very natural – we take our inspiration from our native woodlands and the trees in our landscapes.

Our Outdoor Bonsai Range

All our outdoor bonsai are grown from seed, cuttings or air layers. It takes approximately 10 years before they start to take shape and earn the right to be called a bonsai.

For the first 5 years we concentrate on training the root system to develop the fine fibrous roots which are needed for life in a bonsai pot. During this time, we also establish the main structure of the trunk.

After this we start developing the main branch structure, in balance with the trunk flow. Once we are happy with the basic bonsai structure, after about 8 years, we then start refining the twig structure & overall canopy. Each one of our bonsai is unique & individual and is checked daily for watering, feeding, pruning & styling. As bonsai growers and professionals, we are passionate about the quality of our trees and because we know each one of our bonsai intimately, they develop their own character and individual flare. Would make a wonderful feature in your garden or on the patio/decking.
