This is the bonsai you will receive!

A fabulous English Oak (Quercus rubra) with lovely proportions and great character. I love the Oak, a beautiful bonsai which is very hardy and ideal for beginners. This particular bonsai is phenomenal in stature and artistic design. Near perfect in every way. With a very powerful strong trunk, incredible exposed root flare with spreading design which is mirrored in the canopy. The bark is aged and craggy as one would expect to find in a very old oak tree. The oak is an emblem of power, strength, ancient wisdom and survival and many nations, including England, have chosen the Oak as their national tree. In addition to representing qualities related to power and durability, the oak tree is considered a bearer of good luck, fertility, potency, healing and health. This 32 year old bonsai has a trunk diameter of 7cm. A truly magnificent spreading canopy of wonderful lobed leaves. A hardy bonsai which would make an outstanding feature of any garden, decking, patio or balcony. A bonsai for the discerning – someone who can appreciate the attention to detail and the years of work taken to create. The design of this bonsai has inspiration from parkland estate trees.

Several uro’s are included in the design. They are fine examples and add great character. Uro’s are small hollowed out or carved features in the trunk or branches of a bonsai tree. Just as you would find in an aged woodland tree; small branches, possibly minor trunks or even roots have died and rotted, falling away from the tree leaving wounds in the trunk. These environmental wounds will eventually heal over with bark. But, as the tree has continued to grow over the years and the wood inside the larger wounds has rotted away, hollows in the trunk have formed. In the bonsai world, Uro’s are formed by hand carving using skilled techniques and create superb details on quality bonsai.

Maintenance
• Keep outdoors year-round in a bright position with full sun to partial shade.
• Water regularly, allowing the top layer of soil to slightly dry between watering while ensuring good drainage.
• Feed from spring through early autumn to support strong growth and healthy leaf development.
• Prune new shoots back to maintain shape and encourage a well-ramified branch structure.
• Wire branches carefully during the dormant season, as Oak wood becomes stiff quickly.

Lloyd Noall
A bonsai which I adore and appreciate on a daily basis. Even when out of leaf in the middle of winter this bonsai has the most spectacular artistic design. The branches look old and laden with a gentle slope downwards. This bonsai is all about strength. I hope you love it as much as I do. It is a bonsai many decades in the making and the root flare is particularly expressive in form.
