What is a Bonsai Drum Pot?

A drum pot is a traditional style of bonsai container recognised by its strong circular form, shallow depth and distinctive rim. As the name suggests, its shape and proportions resemble a drum.

When Should You Repot Your Bonsai?

Regular repotting refreshes the growing medium and gives you the opportunity to inspect and manage the root system. It also helps prevent roots from becoming excessively compacted within the pot.

Indoor bonsai: Repot between May and September.

Outdoor deciduous bonsai: Repot in early March, before the new buds begin to open.

Evergreen bonsai, including Junipers and Pines: Repot in early spring, usually around March.
