Description

24-Year-Old Chinese Elm Bonsai Tree – Styled by Lloyd Noall

An Exceptional Old Bonsai Tree with Remarkable Character

This stunning 24-year-old Chinese Elm bonsai tree showcases the beauty and character that only time can create. Over two decades of careful cultivation have transformed this tree into a truly impressive specimen, full of movement, maturity, and refinement.

The first feature that captures attention is the extraordinary trunk. It twists and turns gracefully, creating a dynamic silhouette that draws the eye from every angle. Meanwhile, the richly textured bark adds depth and authenticity, giving the tree the appearance of far greater age. Together, these features create the powerful presence collectors seek in an old bonsai tree.

At the base, the tree displays outstanding nebari that spreads confidently across the soil surface. As a result, the composition feels stable, balanced, and visually mature. Above, a carefully developed branch structure supports highly defined foliage pads, while excellent ramification adds density, detail, and sophistication throughout the canopy.

Styled by Bonsai Master Lloyd Noall

Renowned bonsai artist Lloyd Noall has expertly styled this beautiful Ulmus parvifolia. His craftsmanship is evident throughout the tree. Each branch sits in harmony with the overall design, creating balance, proportion, and visual flow. Furthermore, the refined foliage pads enhance the tree’s mature appearance and emphasise its elegant structure.

The tree sits in a stylish cream oval bonsai pot that perfectly complements both the aged bark and lush green foliage. Consequently, the overall presentation feels refined, timeless, and ready for display.

The Chinese Elm (Ulmus parviflolia) makes a truly beautiful bonsai with small bright green leaves. The tree has excellent twig structure and has great character throughout, making it the perfect representation of a woodland tree. In our opinion the Chinese Elm is the most perfectly proportioned, easy to care for and adaptable tree and makes a superb bonsai; which can be grown either indoors or outdoors.
