Start your bonsai journey with a structured, easy-to-manage 6-year-old tree. This Baby Bonsai Starter Kit features a woodland-style shape with a straight, upright trunk and balanced branching. The form reflects natural woodland growth and gives you a strong foundation to build on. We present each bonsai in a blue glazed ceramic pot, which complements the foliage and suits any bright indoor space.
You can choose your preferred variety from Chinese Elm, Fukien Tea Tree, Ficus, Jade, Chinese Sweet Plum, or Aromatic Pepper. This flexibility allows you to select the species that best fits your environment and taste. Please note, species will not show as an option to select when they are out of stock.
About the Bonsai – Structure, Character and Seasonal Interest
At 6 years old, these bonsai show developing trunk strength and early branch structure. The woodland-style form creates a clean, upright silhouette that is ideal for beginners. Each species offers its own character. Chinese Elm provides fine serrated foliage, Fukien Tea Tree may produce delicate white flowers, Ficus delivers glossy leaves and strong roots, Jade offers thick succulent foliage, Chinese Sweet Plum can flower and fruit in the right conditions, and Aromatic Pepper features small leaves with natural texture and zesty fragrance.
Most varieties thrive indoors in a bright position with just damp soil at all times. As every bonsai is individually grown, natural variation in shape and detail adds to its uniqueness.

You will receive your chosen 6-year-old bonsai planted in its blue glazed ceramic pot. The kit also includes a drip tray to protect surfaces and help manage excess water.

Positioning: Place in bright position avoiding prolonged periods of direct sunlight, particularly in peak summer.
Watering: Keep soil evenly damp; check daily.
Feeding: Apply bonsai fertiliser weekly following the instructions on the bottle. Pruning: Trim new shoots regularly to keep shape and encourage ramification.
Repotting: Repot every two years in early spring using free-draining bonsai soil.
Note: Can live outside during summer months but protect from frost.

Bonsai Variety
The Chinese Elm (Ulmus parvifolia) makes a truly beautiful bonsai with small bright green leaves. The tree has excellent twig structure and has great character throughout, making it the perfect representation of a woodland tree. In our opinion the Chinese Elm is the most perfectly proportioned, easy to care for and adaptable tree and makes a superb bonsai; which can be grown either indoors or outdoors.
The Chinese Sweet Plum (Sageretia theezans) is a pretty indoor bonsai which has great character at an early age due to the flaky bark revealing tones of red/tan. The stunning foliage has hints of rusty red turning to glossy green. Small white flowers give rise to tiny plum-shaped fruits. A really pretty bonsai and great for beginners.
The Oriental Tea Tree (Carmona microphylla) is a simple & elegant bonsai ideal for growing indoors. This bonsai has pretty white flowers during summer months & lovely green, shiny & waxy foliage. The leaves are unusually shaped & well proportioned. The leaves grow in neat clusters allowing the flowers and branch structure to be highly visible. A highly appealing & artistic bonsai.
