Description

A Beautiful 8-Year-Old Chinese Elm Christmas Bonsai Gift

Give a meaningful and memorable Christmas present with this elegant 8-year-old Chinese Elm (Ulmus parvifolia) bonsai. This much-loved indoor variety displays a graceful S-shaped trunk, layered twiggy structure and naturally small serrated leaves. Its classic woodland form makes it a charming miniature tree for any home or office.
This photograph is generic, but your bonsai will be very similar and equally beautiful.

Presented in a traditional blue ceramic pot with a matching dark drip tray, this Christmas bonsai arrives ready to display. The festive wooden “Merry Christmas” snowflake tag adds a seasonal touch, turning this tree into a thoughtful and heartfelt gift.

At Bonsai Direct, our family-run nursery grows and styles every bonsai with genuine care. With almost forty years of hands-on experience, we raise each tree slowly and sustainably, focusing on quality, health and long-term beauty. This Chinese Elm reflects that dedication.

Why This Species Makes a Wonderful Christmas Bonsai Gift

Symbolism and Meaning

The Chinese Elm symbolises inner strength, intuition, wisdom and love. These warm meanings make it an ideal Christmas gift for friends, family or colleagues.

Easy, Rewarding Care

This bonsai suits beginners beautifully. Indoors, it stays evergreen throughout the year. It responds well to pruning, buds back quickly and grows with reassuring consistency.

Natural Beauty in Every Detail

The smooth movement of the trunk, the bright green foliage and the refined branch structure together create a miniature tree with real presence. Its proportions are excellent for desks, windowsills and coffee tables.

Care Guidance Made Simple

We include a printed care guide with each Chinese Elm, offering clear, step-by-step advice. Keep the soil just damp to the touch. Position the tree in bright daylight, avoiding harsh midday sun, heat sources and cold drafts. Mist the leaves to support humidity. Apply bonsai fertiliser weekly during the growing season to encourage new growth. Light pruning keeps its shape neat and balanced.

Flexible Delivery and Gifting Options

We deliver 7 days a week. Enjoy free next working day delivery to most of the UK, or select your preferred delivery date at checkout – perfect for Christmas planning.
Deliveries to the Highlands, Islands and Northern Ireland take two working days and have a small surcharge.

To personalise your gift, simply add the bonsai to your basket and choose from gift wrap, balloons, greetings cards and custom tags. We never include invoices, making this ideal for Christmas gifting

Bonsai Variety

The Chinese Elm (Ulmus parviflolia) makes a truly beautiful bonsai with small bright green leaves. The tree has excellent twig structure and has great character throughout, making it the perfect representation of a woodland tree. In our opinion the Chinese Elm is the most perfectly proportioned, easy to care for and adaptable tree and makes a superb bonsai; which can be grown either indoors or outdoors.
