Extra Large 20-Year-Old Serissa Bonsai – Neagari Style | Black Friday Special
An Exceptional Mature Serissa Bonsai with Outstanding Character
This magnificent 20-year-old Serissa bonsai (Serissa foetida) is an extraordinary example of mature bonsai artistry. Standing an impressive 61cm tall, it combines powerful trunk movement, beautifully exposed roots and a wonderfully refined canopy of naturally miniature leaves.
Its dramatic twisting trunk, superb taper and distinctive cream-coloured bark create a remarkable sense of age and maturity. Furthermore, the tree is presented in an extra-large traditional blue ceramic bonsai pot measuring 35cm x 21cm, providing a beautiful foundation for this substantial specimen.
Even more impressively, this exceptional Serissa was still producing its delicate white star-shaped flowers at the end of October 2026. This wonderful display highlights the flowering potential of this rewarding indoor bonsai species.
Available as part of our Black Friday special offers, this is a wonderful opportunity to own a substantial, established flowering bonsai with outstanding character and artistic presence.
Neagari Style – Beautiful Exposed Roots & Dramatic Trunk Movement
One of the most captivating features of this mature Serissa is its striking Neagari styling.
Neagari is the Japanese term for an exposed-root bonsai style, where a significant portion of the root structure rises above the soil before joining the trunk. Over time, these exposed roots develop the appearance of an extension of the trunk itself, creating an extraordinary sense of age, strength and natural resilience.
In this particular specimen, the roots contribute to a wonderfully dramatic composition. Their characterful shapes provide a strong visual foundation, while the trunk rises above them with powerful twists and flowing movement.
The superb trunk taper is equally impressive. Taper describes the gradual reduction in trunk thickness from its substantial base towards the finer upper branches. This highly desirable characteristic helps create the appearance of a much older, full-sized tree in miniature.
Here, the combination of pronounced twists, excellent taper and exposed roots gives the bonsai exceptional depth and personality.
Beautiful Cream-Coloured Bark with Wonderful Natural Texture
The bark is another particularly attractive feature of this remarkable Serissa.
Its beautiful cream-coloured surface displays subtle natural markings and delicate texturing, creating a fascinating contrast against the darker areas of the trunk and exposed roots.
As the tree matures, the bark develops additional character, enhancing the impression of age and contributing to its distinctive appearance.
Furthermore, the pale bark beautifully complements the rich blue ceramic pot and vibrant green foliage.
Delicate White Star-Shaped Flowers – Still Blooming in Late October
Serissa is affectionately known as the Tree of a Thousand Stars, a name inspired by the abundance of tiny white flowers it can produce.
Each delicate bloom has a beautiful star-like shape, creating a delightful contrast against the rich green foliage. When flowering, the canopy becomes scattered with miniature white stars, adding softness and elegance to the powerful trunk below.
Remarkably, this particular bonsai was still flowering at the end of October 2026, demonstrating its wonderful seasonal interest.
Although flowering varies according to growing conditions, a healthy Serissa can reward its owner with repeated displays of these charming blossoms.
Naturally Miniature Leaves & Beautiful Mature Foliage
The Serissa is particularly well suited to bonsai cultivation because of its naturally small, delicate leaves.
Its fine foliage creates an attractive, densely textured canopy without the need for artificially reducing leaf size. Consequently, even a substantial specimen such as this retains the refined proportions associated with traditional Japanese bonsai.
The small green leaves provide a lovely contrast to the textured cream bark and twisting trunk. Moreover, the delicate branching allows the flowers to stand out beautifully when the tree is in bloom.
Extra Large Traditional Blue Ceramic Bonsai Pot
A mature bonsai of this stature deserves a pot that complements its size, strength and natural beauty.
This exceptional Serissa is planted in an extra-large traditional blue ceramic bonsai pot measuring 35cm x 21cm.
The beautiful blue finish provides a rich contrast against the cream-coloured bark, exposed roots and fresh green foliage. Additionally, the generous proportions of the pot create a strong, balanced foundation for the 61cm tall tree.
Serissa Bonsai Care – A Warm, Bright & Consistent Environment
This mature Serissa can be a rewarding indoor bonsai when provided with the right growing conditions.
Serissa particularly appreciates a warm room with plenty of good natural daylight and an even temperature throughout the year.
Unlike some more forgiving bonsai species, it dislikes sudden changes in temperature, cold draughts and frequent changes of position. Therefore, choosing a suitable location and keeping its environment consistent will help maintain healthy growth.
Keep the compost evenly damp, allowing only the very top to become slightly dry before watering again. However, avoid leaving the roots waterlogged.
Regular light pruning will help maintain its attractive shape, while occasional misting can provide additional humidity in centrally heated rooms.
Symbolising Well-Being, Good Luck & Hope
The Serissa is widely associated with well-being, good luck and hope, making it a particularly meaningful bonsai to own or give as a gift.
Its delicate white flowers represent beauty and optimism, while its mature, twisting trunk suggests strength, perseverance and the passage of time.
Consequently, this magnificent 20-year-old specimen makes a thoughtful gift for a special occasion, new beginning or important milestone.
