This Chinese Elm bonsai tree stands out for its expressive exposed roots and gentle trunk movement. The supreme powerful nebari creates a natural, forest-like feel, while the fine branching builds a full and lush canopy. At 37cm, it offers presence without being overwhelming, making it ideal for display in the home or office. The brand new olive green pot complements the tree perfectly, adding to its overall balance. Altogether, it is a mature and characterful bonsai tree that brings depth, calm, and natural beauty into any setting. The Chinese Elm (Ulmus parvifolia) is a very highly regarded bonsai species and is highly suitable for beginners due to its ease of care.
The base of the trunk is beginning to show its maturity – the bark is starting to get its cork bark effect beautifully. A bonsai with clean lines and highly refined structure.

Description

Chinese Elm Bonsai Tree | 15 Year Old with Exposed Nebari in Neutral Olive Green Pot

15 Year Old Chinese Elm Bonsai Tree | Stunning Exposed Nebari & Lush Full Canopy

This 15-year-old Chinese Elm bonsai tree offers a wonderful balance of structure and natural beauty. It features a gentle, flowing curve through the trunk, which leads the eye up into a rich, full canopy. At 37cm, it is not tiny, yet it carries a strong presence and a great sense of maturity. The exposed nebari at the base is a real highlight, with strong and powerful roots spreading and crossing over one another, much like you would see in a natural forest setting.

A bonsai tree with depth, texture, and seasonal interest

The Chinese Elm, or Ulmus parvifolia, is loved for its small green leaves and fine twiggy branching. This structure creates a dense and lush canopy that feels both full and well-balanced. Throughout the growing season, the foliage remains vibrant and fresh, while the detailed branching adds depth and interest even as the tree develops. The exposed root base adds another layer of texture, giving the bonsai tree a grounded and aged appearance.

The Chinese Elm (Ulmus parviflolia) makes a truly beautiful bonsai with small bright green leaves. The tree has excellent twig structure and has great character throughout, making it the perfect representation of a woodland tree. In our opinion the Chinese Elm is the most perfectly proportioned, easy to care for and adaptable tree and makes a superb bonsai; which can be grown either indoors or outdoors.
