This is the exact bonsai which you will receive!

Discover the captivating charm of our 16-year-old Chinese Elm (Ulmus parvifolia) indoor bonsai, adorned with a unique, shapely trunk boasting a lovely texture and gentle curves. Its fantastic canopy, adorned with neat foliage pads and well-placed branches, creates a visually stunning display.

The multi-toned green leaves reflect the enduring beauty of this delightful bonsai, flourishing throughout the seasons. This specific bonsai has a highly refined structure; an uncluttered design which is graceful and powerful. This bonsai has a strong and commanding presence. Extremely artistic with age and maturity.

Potted into a glazed blue rectangular ceramic bonsai pot with a matching tray, this living focal point of any room. The nebari/root flare is artistic and beautifully ‘roots’ the bonsai to the soil.

The lower section the trunk has a lovely feature sharing running along the inside.

🌿 Fature Shari :
“A shari on a bonsai is a section of deadwood on the trunk or main branches where the bark has been intentionally removed to expose the pale, weathered wood beneath. It’s a traditional bonsai technique inspired by nature — in the wild, trees often develop deadwood through lightning strikes, wind damage, or harsh weather.

In bonsai artistry, creating a shari gives the impression of age, struggle, and endurance. It tells a story — that this little tree has faced the elements and survived. The contrast between the smooth living bark and the bleached, textured deadwood adds incredible visual drama and depth.

A well-crafted shari brings artistic balance to a design, highlighting the rugged beauty of nature while emphasizing the vitality of the living parts of the tree. It’s a fine example of wabi-sabi — the Japanese aesthetic that celebrates imperfection, transience, and natural beauty.”

As an inspired gift idea for anyone, especially beginners, this Chinese Elm indoor bonsai offers easy care and a rewarding experience.

🌿 Expert Comment from Bonsai Advisor Sarah:
“This really is such a quirky little bonsai—I have to say, it makes me smile every time I look at it. The exposed root flare is full of character, and I love how the roots rise and then melt seamlessly into the base of the trunk. The bark has that naturally aged, flaky texture that gives it a real sense of maturity. The feature Shari adds to its character. The branches are well spaced too, giving it a clean, uncluttered look. It’s now November 2025, and I honestly think this bonsai just keeps getting better with time. New buds are already emerging, and in just a couple of weeks it’ll be covered in a fresh layer of bright green leaves. It’s looking absolutely fantastic right now, and the colours—especially that vibrant green—are really set off by the deep blue of the contemporary ceramic pot and matching tray. The contrast is striking and gives the whole composition a bold, modern feel.”
