About the Species

Native to South Africa, the Roseapple or Brush Cherry gets its name from its bright red fruits resembling tiny cherries. The creamy flowers that appear before fruiting are adorned with long stamens, creating a delicate starburst effect. The fresh new leaves often start with a charming blush-red tint before turning to rich green hues.
