Description

Premium 6-Year-Old Ficus Indoor Bonsai | Powerful Broom-Style Tree for Beginners

This 6-year-old Ficus Indoor bonsai showcases strength, balance, and refinement. Standing at only 28 cm tall with a sturdy trunk, it commands attention while maintaining perfect proportions. The broom-style canopy spreads evenly with layers of glossy emerald-green leaves, creating natural symmetry and harmony. Our expert growers shaped each branch to enhance depth and movement, giving this bonsai both power and serenity.

Distinctive Styling and Presentation

You will receive this exact tree from our individually photographed Premium range. Our team has potted it in to a neutral soft cream ceramic pot with a matching drip tray, chosen to complement its bold structure and elegant foliage. The lighter glaze contrasts beautifully with the silver striated bark and vibrant leaves, giving this bonsai a bright and airy finish that suits any interior.

About the Species – Ficus Indoor Bonsai

The Ficus retusa, often called the Banyan Fig, ranks among the most admired indoor bonsai species. It produces glossy leaves, strong aerial roots, and a robust trunk that give it lasting appeal. This adaptable species thrives in warm indoor spaces with bright, indirect light. Its forgiving nature and steady growth make it ideal for beginners and enthusiasts seeking year-round greenery and effortless style.

A Perfect Ficus for Beginners

The Ficus retusa offers one of the easiest introductions to bonsai care. It grows reliably, tolerates minor lapses in watering, and responds well to pruning. With its balanced structure and resilient growth, it provides the full satisfaction of nurturing a living work of art while remaining simple to maintain.

Maintenance
Light: Position in a bright indoor spot with plenty of natural daylight; the Ficus retusa thrives in warm, well-lit rooms but avoid harsh midday sun through glass.
Watering: Keep the soil slightly damp; water when the surface feels just dry to the touch. Avoid overwatering or letting the roots sit in water.
Humidity: Mist the foliage several times a week to maintain humidity and keep the glossy leaves healthy.
Temperature: Prefers warm, stable conditions between 15–25°C; protect from cold draughts and temperatures below 12°C.
Feeding: Use a balanced bonsai fertiliser following the directions on the packaging.
Pruning: Trim soft new growth regularly to maintain the broom-style canopy and encourage a dense, compact structure.
Repotting: Repot every 2–3 years in a free-draining bonsai soil mix to refresh nutrients and support healthy root growth.

Bonsai Variety

Fig (Ficus retusa) The fig has dark green glossy leaves and is unusual in that it will tolerate lower light levels. The fig makes a fantastic indoor bonsai and should be protected from the frost. It buds back very quickly after pruning and has an immense amount of character in the truck and aerial root system. A very powerful bonsai, fun and easy to care for. It is also less susceptible to pest attack. Protect from cold (min 10oC).
