The Dwarf Chinese Sweet Plum is a fruiting variety of indoor bonsai which displays gorgeous summer colour. This bonsai has a twisty trunk with vibrant green leaves which grow red/tan tips during summer. As the bonsai matures, the tree will grow small purple plum-like fruits during warmer months. This 8 year old bonsai comes potted in a navy blue ceramic pot, supplied with a dark coloured drip tray. Additionally, we have added a “Best Dad” wooden hanging tag. The Chinese Sweet Plum is also known as the Sageretia theezans. This variety symbolises protection, creativity, new life & warm wishes.

The Chinese Sweet Plum, or Sageretia theezans, is a tropical to subtropical species prized in bonsai for its delicate, glossy leaves, fine branching, and naturally compact growth habit. Native to southern China, it features reddish-brown bark that exfoliates with age, adding visual texture and maturity. During the warmer months, it may produce small, inconspicuous flowers followed by dark, plum-like fruits — hence its common name. It responds well to pruning, making it ideal for developing refined ramification and shape, and it thrives best with warmth, humidity, and consistent moisture.
