A Mature Fukien Tea Tree Bonsai with Distinctive Artistic Presence
Beautiful Trunk Movement & Textured Bark
This premium bonsai displays an exceptional trunk line, shaped over many years into a graceful, three-dimensional S-curve. The textured, cream-toned bark adds depth and character, while the nebari (root flare) spreads powerfully at the base, giving the tree remarkable stability and visual weight.
Glossy Green Leaves & Natural Elegance
The well-spaced, downward-angled branches hold dense clusters of glossy evergreen foliage. Fresh lime new leaves contrast beautifully against the deeper green mature canopy, creating an appealing sense of movement and seasonal life. Even during cooler months, this variety often holds delicate flower buds—soft white blooms that appear throughout the warmer months.
Symbolism with Heart & Meaning
A Tree of Courage, Love & Devotion
The Fukien Tea Tree has long been associated with emotional strength, inner calm, and heartfelt devotion. Its gentle flowers symbolise patience and care, while the evergreen nature represents constancy. This makes it a thoughtful choice for meaningful gifting or a treasured long-term companion in your own home.

How do I Care for a Fukien Tea Tree Bonsai?
Positioning
Caring for a Fukien tea tree bonsai, an attractive species renowned for its small, glossy leaves and white blossoms, is simple. Place your Fukien tea bonsai in an area that receives plenty of indirect, bright sunlight. You may need to move it for a few weeks in mid summer if it is placed on a windowsill. This tree prefers warm temperatures, so place somewhere avoiding cold draughts in winter.
Watering
Watering is crucial; the soil should remain just a little damp, but not soggy. Check the topsoil daily; water a little when the top layer starts to feel dry. You are trying to maintain dampness. A position with a warm, even temperature. Remarkably, this is actually one of the easier varieties but should not be treated in the same way as other species such as the Chinese Elm. Our top tip – do not overwater!
Feeding
Feeding the bonsai with a balanced, liquid bonsai fertiliser every week throughout the year will support its health and flowering capability. Pruning will help maintain its shape and promote denser foliage, while also controlling its size. A Fukien Tea Tree is a slow growing variety so pruning is minimal. Just keep the tips of the new shoots pruned back. Additionally, we recommend a plant invigorator. This can be used on most plant species and is not specific to bonsai trees. Spray weekly to prevent pest and disease. It also acts as a great foliar feed.
