Bring the serenity and beauty of nature into your life or surprise a loved one with this remarkable Pomegranate (Punica granatum nana) hardy outdoor bonsai.
This is the exact bonsai which you will receive!
The Punica granatum nana bonsai, or flowering Pomegranate, is a truly spectacular variety. Its informal upright trunk holds an array of twiggy branches, supporting a full canopy of vibrant green leaves. The trunk is elegant and beautifully positioned in the centre of the classic bonsai pot. The bright orange-pink flowers make this little tree a showstopper. The pomegranate fruits which follow the flowers are also unique and eye-catching. The midnight blue ceramic bonsai pot, and matching drip tray, perfectly compliment the many colours of the pomegranate bonsai, and creates an elegant outdoor bonsai.
The blossoms of the pomegranate tree are a true spectacle, adding a vibrant ornamental touch to any garden. Appearing from late spring into early summer, these flowers captivate with their vivid orange-red hues and distinctive trumpet shape, featuring a waxy, crinkled texture. Most blooms display five to seven petals, though some ornamental types boast many more, creating a lush, ruffled effect. Typically, the flowers appear singly or in small clusters at the tips of branches, where their brilliant colour and abundant nectar attract bees and other pollinators. Beyond their beauty, these striking flowers are the first sign of the pomegranate’s famous fruit to come.
Symbolising fertility and prosperity, the Pomegranate bonsai makes an excellent gift for anyone. Perfect for beginners, it requires easy care and offers a hassle-free cultivation experience.
The best place to grow a pomegranate bonsai in the UK is outdoors in a sunny, sheltered spot during the warmer months, where it can enjoy full sun to encourage vibrant flowering and fruiting. Pomegranate bonsai thrive in bright, warm conditions and tolerate high summer temperatures and wind well. However, because they are Mediterranean plants, they require frost protection in winter—ideally kept in a bright, cool, and well-ventilated location such as an unheated greenhouse, frost-free cold frame, or indoors in a cool room where temperatures stay between 4 and 8°C. An un-heated conservatory is perfect. Avoid exposing the bonsai to prolonged freezing temperatures below 0°C, as this can damage the tree. Regular watering during summer and reduced moisture in winter, along with good air circulation, will help your pomegranate bonsai flourish year-round in the UK climate.
