This beautifully balanced bonsai pair brings together two beginner-friendly trees with real charm and character. The fruiting Chinese Sweet Plum (Sageretia theezans) and the flowering Fukien Tea Tree (Carmona microphylla) each offer unique features like seasonal flowers or fruit, vibrant foliage, and lovely trunk shapes. They’re ideal for anyone looking to enjoy bonsai at home without paying full premium prices.
These trees are classed as seconds, which means they may have a few minor cosmetic imperfections—but they’re healthy, full of potential, and perfect for growing on and shaping over time.
The Sageretia has an attractive, twisting trunk with red-toned bark, glossy green leaves, and delicate russet tips. In summer, it may produce tiny purple plum-like fruits that add extra seasonal interest.
The Carmona features a chunkier, equally twisty trunk with a vivid, shiny green canopy. When in bloom, it’s dotted with delicate white star-shaped flowers, adding elegance and lightness to its form.
