11-Year-Old Olive Bonsai Tree – Olea europaea
A Beautiful Mediterranean Bonsai with Timeless Appeal
This striking 11-year-old Olea europaea bonsai combines Mediterranean charm with elegant bonsai styling. Its gently twisting trunk creates graceful movement from the base upwards, while the refined branching gives the tree a balanced and mature silhouette. In addition, the silvery-green foliage forms a dense canopy that looks attractive throughout the year.
Our bonsai specialists recently repotted this tree into a brand-new gloss black ceramic bonsai pot. A drip tray sits neatly beneath the pot, completing the presentation and making it ideal for display in a home, office, conservatory or bright room.
As part of our Premium Indoor Bonsai Collection, we have individually photographed this tree. Therefore, you will receive the exact bonsai shown in the photographs.
Why Choose an Olive Bonsai?
For centuries, people have admired olive trees for their beauty, longevity and resilience. Native to the Mediterranean region, Olea europaea thrives as a bonsai because it naturally develops attractive bark, compact foliage and characterful trunks.
Furthermore, olive bonsai offer year-round interest. Their narrow silver-green leaves catch the light beautifully, while mature specimens can occasionally produce delicate flowers and even small olives under the right conditions.
Symbolism and Meaning
The olive tree carries powerful symbolism that stretches back thousands of years. As a result, it makes a thoughtful and meaningful gift.
It traditionally represents:
- Peace and harmony
- Friendship and goodwill
- Hope and renewal
- Strength and endurance
- Wisdom and longevity
Consequently, olive bonsai make wonderful gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, housewarmings and other special occasions.
Caring for Your Olive Bonsai
Olive bonsai enjoy bright conditions and plenty of natural light. For best results, place your tree close to a sunny window where it can receive several hours of light each day.
Allow the surface of the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Then water thoroughly and allow any excess water to drain away. Unlike many indoor bonsai species, olive trees prefer slightly drier conditions.
During spring and summer, you can move your bonsai outdoors to a warm, sheltered position. However, protect it from severe frost during winter.
Apply bonsai fertiliser weekly to encourage new growth and flowers.
For even healthier foliage, we also recommend Bonsai Direct Mist. It helps condition the leaves, supports humidity and keeps your bonsai looking its best.
