A truly outstanding specimen Japanese Maple bonsai (Acer palmatum katsura).
Approximately 38 years in age, this beautiful bonsai has a mature character trunk, incredible nebari (root flare) and displays the most wonderful colours throughout the seasons.
The trunk diameter is substantial and 7cm and gives this outstanding bonsai a powerful and mature artistic beauty. The trunk is beautifully hollowed, adding yet more character. The root flare is sublime.
The leaves of the Japanese Maples display wonderful seasonal colours and are palm-shaped giving rise to the name Acer palmatum.

They require a sheltered position in the garden protected from strong winds. When pruning please allow 1-2cm for die back and do not use wire to style your maple as the bark is very delicate and scars easily. A truly beautiful bonsai.
