Larger Hardy Bonsai Tree | Exquisite Twinned Trunk, Root Flare and Lush Canopy – 12 years old
This larger, twin-trunked Beech bonsai tree is a striking addition to any garden, patio, or balcony, boasting an elegant, sweeping design. The tall, gracefully arcing trunks rise from a blue glazed rectangular ceramic pot, creating a harmonious and visually appealing structure. The smooth, silvery bark features subtle horizontal striations, adding texture and character. The finely detailed branches spread broadly, supporting a lush canopy of ovate, wavy-edged leaves that transition from pale green in spring to glossy green in summer, and finally to vibrant yellows and oranges in autumn. The tree’s open and uncluttered structure highlights its natural beauty, making it a standout piece. As a native and hardy variety, this Beech bonsai is particularly easy to care for, making it an ideal choice.
I love the way the main root leads the eye up the elegant trunk flow. The two trunks have naturally fused over time; stabilising each other as they would do in nature.

Caring for Your Large Hardy Beech Bonsai Tree
- Watering: Keep the soil damp to the touch, never allowing it to fully dry out. During autumn and winter, natural rainfall should suffice, but check during dry periods.
- Fertilising: Use Bonsai Direct Fertiliser during the growing season to keep the bonsai healthy and actively growing.
- Pruning and Wiring: Prune major branches in early spring before buds open. During the growing season, maintain the shape by keeping the tips in check. Wire carefully to avoid scarring the bark, using guy wires if necessary. This bonsai has been hand-styled without wiring.
- Repotting: Repot and root prune every 2-3 years before buds swell, typically in late February or early March. Remove just the outer 0.5cm of the root ball during root pruning.
- Placement: Grow outdoors year-round in a semi-shaded, sheltered position. Protect from harsh freezes in winter, especially from long periods of snow or freezing, which can cause dehydration.

Bonsai Variety
🍃 Variety
Beech (Fagus sylvatica)The beech has beautiful waxy veined leaves displaying fabulous spring and autumn colour. In the spring the leaves appear to have an artificial lime green iridescence and during autumn the leaves turn yellow at first, then orange and brown. To me the beech signifies the changing British seasons. The bark of the beech is smooth and grey and the leaves are often retained well into the winter, finally released as the new buds swell in the spring. Shape by pruning. Very hardy.
