This exceptional English Maple, also known as Acer campestre, boasts excellent proportions and stunning artistic appeal. It features a commanding, smooth trunk with gentle movement, exuding immense character and structure. The leaf shape and vibrant foliage colours are truly spectacular. As a hardy native bonsai, it promises not to disappoint. Potted in an earthy unglazed rectangular bonsai pot, this bonsai would make a delightful addition to any garden, adding beautiful colour and charm.
The exposed root flare of this Acer bonsai is exceptional. The branches are strong and are well tapered in proportion to the trunk. The bark has already started to become ‘corky’ as it naturally matures.
The Acer campestre is the hardiest in the maple family and has superbly shaped leaves. Magically, the field maple is associated with love and matters of the heart. Sitting under one and resting is believed to ease the burdens of those weighed down with heavy responsibilities.
The flowers are small, yellow-green, cup-shaped, and hang in clusters. The pretty winged fruits are characteristic of maples.
Field maple has dark green, five-lobed leaves, which are smaller and have more rounded lobes than those of Sycamore; they turn golden in autumn. Its small, yellow-green, cupped flowers turn to large, winged fruits when pollinated.
