The Acer campestre bonsai is often more comely called a Field Maple or English Maple (Acer Campestre). It is one of the hardiest maples and displays sunning autumnal foliage colours.

Standing 51cm in total height, this 16 year old hardy bonsai has a stunning forked structure. The trunk is strong and has immense character.
Additionally, one of the best features is the beautiful taper of the trunk. It starts thicker at the base and gradually reduces in sizes towards the top of the tree. The main branches are strong and uncluttered. A native maple variety highly regarded for its hardiness and beauty. Also, in spring the leaves are a vibrant lime green often flashed with pretty red hues. The new stems are red in colour and in autumn months the whole bonsai is a mass of golden foliage.

I love the way the red stems and the red flushed to the leaves is highlighted by the teal blue glaze of the pot.
