If you have requested Monday delivery, DPD may try to deliver over the weekend to keep on top of parcels. You can control the delivery date once you have received your 1-hour time slot.

How long is the bonsai okay in the box?

When ordering a bonsai tree, it’s natural to wonder how long it can safely remain packaged after delivery. All of our bonsai are thoroughly soaked before dispatch to keep them well hydrated during transit. In most cases, this means your bonsai in a box will be perfectly fine for around 3–4 days after delivery without needing immediate attention. If you need to leave it in the box for longer, please leave the box open for a few hours to allow the tree to receive some sunlight. If the weather is warm, please unwrap the bonsai and water it, then wrap it back up. In hot weather, please ensure the bonsai does not dry out. Keep the box in a cool room away from heat sources. Do not keep the bonsai in the box for more than 7 days.

That said, we always recommend opening your bonsai in a box as soon as possible. Check that everything has arrived in perfect condition and let us know straight away if there are any issues. While many bonsai handle a short time in the box well, different varieties can vary. Environmental factors also play a role—during warmer weather, your bonsai may dry out faster, even in the dark where transpiration slows. In cooler conditions, it may last a little longer, but it’s always best to unpack and care for your bonsai promptly to keep it in top health.
